MUNCIE, Ind. — The explanation isn’t as complicated as the execution.

Ask Ball State head coach Mike Neu. Ask his defensive coordinator, David Elson. Ask one of the team’s leaders in interceptions in sophomore cornerback Amechi Uzodinma II or its leader in sacks and fumble recoveries in redshirt sophomore linebacker Jordan Williams.

The Cardinals’ defense has emerged as one of the nation’s best in causing turnovers. It’s preyed on the Mid-American Conference and a team each from the Atlantic Coast Conference and Big Ten, among others.
