Sports rundown: Samz' late 3 elevates BSU women's basketball over Providence; local scores

MUNCIE, Ind. — With nine seconds left, senior Jasmin Samz hit a 3-pointer to give Ball State a 52-51 lead and eventual victory over Providence.

The shot capped off a fourth quarter where the Cardinals outscored the Friars 18-10 to secure their second-straight win in the 2019 Lobo Invitational. With the win, Ball State is 6-4 this season.

Junior Oshlynn Brown led the Cardinals (14 points, 14 rebounds) in a relatively low-scoring game. The performance was Brown's sixth double-double of the season and she was followed on the stat sheet by Samz, who finished with 13 points and five assists.
