Since they were kids, members of both Yorktown's baseball and softball teams have been looking forward to the 2020 season.
Both squads made deep postseason runs last year, with the softball team finishing as the state runner-up and the baseball team making it all the way to semistate. Coming so close to a state title, both teams entered this season with lofty expectations.
Those expectations weren't just a result of last year's success, either. They started around a decade ago, when this year's seniors were just kids playing in the Yorktown Junior Athletic Association.
