Notes: Several local players honored on all-state volleyball teams

MUNCIE, Ind. — Unsurprisingly, several East Central Indiana athletes were honored on the all-state volleyball teams released by the Indiana High School Volleyball Coaches Association on Tuesday.

Undefeated state champion Yorktown had the most selections in Class 4A, as Kenzie Knuckles, Kylie Murr and Tegan Seyring made first team. Knuckles (first team) and Murr (second team) were also recently named Under Armour All-Americans.

Coach Stephanie Bloom was named state coach of the year in Class 4A, while Jeri Owens earned assistant coach of the year.

In Class 3A, New Castle's Mabrey Shaffmaster and Melani Shaffmaster were first-team selections after leading the Trojans to their second straight championship.
