HONOLULU, Hawaii – The 15th ranked Ball State men's volleyball team lost its first game of the season Saturday night to No. 7 Hawaii, 3-1. The Cardinals were 2-1 in the 23rd Outrigger Resorts Volleyball Invitational.
Freshman Matt Szews led the team for the third straight game in kills with 13. Szews also had seven digs, four block assists and one ace. With his dominate performances in the Invitational, Szews was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Preseason All-MIVA selections, senior Brendan Surane and junior Matt Walsh, both had powerful performances in the final game of island play.
