MUNCIE, Ind. — The first thing Bonzi Wells thought of 21 months ago was his kids. The prospect of them without a father was devastating.

Wells was just 40 years old in September of 2017 when he suffered a heart attack and was rushed to the hospital. He didn’t know what the future held, at the time, but the former Muncie Central and Ball State star promised himself that from this point forward, he would make his health his No. 1 priority.

"It was a scary thing, the worst pain I’ve been through in my entire life," Wells says.
