MUNCIE, Ind. — Addie Chester was basically at midfield getting ready to take a free kick during a regular season match against Yorktown.
The Delta senior looked over at her coach, Brytany Pope, and asked, "Hey, should I try?" By "try" Chester meant shooting the goal. From midfield. Earlier in the match, she drilled a goal from at least 30 yards out.
If there was anyone Pope had faith in shooting that goal, it's Chester. So try she did, running up to boot the ball at a distance the referee later told Pope he had never seen collegiate men's player make.
