MUNCIE, Ind. — Muncie Central is looking for a new football coach as Scott Pethtel resigned after two seasons.

Central athletic director Tom Lyon said Pethtel, who has coached high school and college football all over the country including at Ball State, planned on retiring.

"He's been doing it 44 years, and sometimes it's just time to go," Lyon said. "We wish him well and appreciate everything he did for us, obviously. I don't really know what else to say. He came in with the intention of sticking around for a while, but that's just the way things go in life.
