MUNCIE — Ron Bonham, a local basketball legend who went on to have a long career in local government, has died.
Mayor Dennis Tyler wrote in a Tweet on Saturday that Bonham "passed away peacefully this afternoon with family and friends at his bedside."
The mayor also issued an appeal to respect the family's privacy.
Bonham was Indiana's Mr. Basketball in 1960, his senior season for the Central High School Bearcats.
He later played for a national championship team at the University of Cincinnati, and played professionally for the Boston Celtics and the Indiana Pacers.
