Morry Mannies, perhaps the most recognizable voice in the history of Muncie, has died.
Mannies was for 56 years the radio play-by-play announcer for Ball State athletics, and also covered high school athletics for many decades.
Mannies retired as the Voice of the Cardinals following the 2011-12 school year.
A native of Peru, Ind., Mannies latched onto the Ball State broadcasting job while he was a freshman at BSU in the 1956-57 school year.
He was known for signing off with the phrase, "Good night, and good sports," as well as his colorful sweaters and his positive outlook on local athletic teams.
