MARION, Ind. — Caitlyn Campbell and Olivia Leas are wildly different basketball players who on Saturday shared a coveted milestone.
In their respective Eastbrook sectional semifinal games, the juniors each surpassed 1,000 career points with a 3-pointer. Campbell's moment came first, early in the third quarter of Winchester's 50-41 win over Madison-Grant, and Leas' in the final minutes of Blackford's 47-36 loss to Tipton.
Both teams presented banners and commemorative balls to their stars, followed by pictures with friends, family and teammates.
"I feel like it's not real yet. I knew I was close but I didn't know when I was going to get it," Campbell said.
