Mike Neu wasn’t surprised to see Ball State's defense outplay its offense during BSU's spring game

MUNCIE, Ind. — The day of the spring game, maybe a couple hours before it started, Ball State outside linebacker Keionté Newson was with his fellow defensive Cardinals listening to their coordinator speak.

Newson said Tyler Stockton, also the BSU inside linebackers coach, had music blasting. Newson watched clips that showcased big plays the defense had made during spring practice. Newson heard Stockton tell everyone that they were going to shut the offense down, that they would make everyone in those meeting rooms mad.

And not only did Newson say Ball State’s defense believed every word Stockton uttered, but they played that way.
