MUNCIE, Ind. — Everyone in Ball Gym stayed on their feet following player introductions as Burris athletic director Chad Wlodarek introduced the man who brought the Owls the most state titles in Indiana’s history, Steve Shondell.
Former players, alumni and community members filled the north and south bleachers to see Shondell walk onto that court as Burris' head coach for the first time in a decade. Among the cheers from his standing ovation as he walked to the middle of the court in front of the scorers’ table, no one seemed to notice Wlodarek say it was his first match back in nine years.
