Local Notes: Ball State basketball sweeps 3-game set in Costa Rica, Ishmael El-Amin shines

MUNCIE, Ind. — A foreign trip sent Ball State’s men’s basketball team to Costa Rica, and when the Cardinals travel back home Monday they’ll have three wins in tow.

Ball State topped Costa Rica Select side Escazu on Wednesday by 21, 79-58, to open up the three-game slate of competition. Freshman center Ben Hendriks led the Cardinals in scoring with 16 points, also grabbing five rebounds. Junior guard Ishmael El-Amin, 15 points and six rebounds, and redshirt junior forward Brachen Hazen, 12 points and nine rebounds, also finished in double figures.
