MUNCIE, Ind. — Joey Lynch arrived back in Muncie around 7 p.m. on Sept. 15. He had spent the past few hours on the bus, going over the film from Ball State’s loss to Indiana University, but his day was just beginning.
The offensive coordinator dropped a few things off in his office, and on his way out of the team facility, he ran into head coach Mike Neu.
Neu grabbed Lynch’s arm and said, "I'd better not see you at the facility tomorrow."
Lynch assured Neu that he would not show up to work on Sunday, as he typically would, and he drove home.
