Last year's heartbreak fuels Monroe Central's sectional title

SHERIDAN, Ind. — Even as the Monroe Central girls basketball team put together another outstanding season, there was always the way last season ended looming over them. The Golden Bears knew that Saturday night was the time to put those demons to rest.

It was 364 days ago that Monroe Central’s perfect season ended in the sectional championship when it was upset by Frankton. The Sheridan Sectional championship game against Lapel was about redemption.

"I mean I came in a little nervous just because of what happened last year," Jordyn Barga said, "but deep down, I knew we could do this.
