‘It was awesome’: For Delta contingent at all-star game, playing at home proved special

MUNCIE, Ind. — It felt like any other football Friday night at Delta.

Coach Chris Overholt, elated, jumped up and down on the sideline after his defense forced turnover after turnover. Bret Warner lined up on the defensive line and plugged gaps. Brady Pease, that ballhawking linebacker, roamed the field and made tackles. Tyler Gilland locked down opposing receivers in the secondary, at times making acrobatic plays in the air to knock passes to the ground.

Overholt wasn’t coaching the Eagles, and Warner, Pease and Gilland weren’t wearing Eagles jerseys, but Friday in the 19th Annual East-West Football Classic they all represented Delta for the East all-star team.
