IHSAA policy already addresses transgender athletes. What else will the new Indiana law do?

Indiana lawmakers continue the push for a bill to ban transgender girls from playing on girls sports teams. It's one of several bills filed at the start of the 2022 legislative session dealing with limitations for transgendered Hoosiers.

Dozens of other states filed legislation last year to keep transgender girls out of girls sports, and a similar Texas bill recently went into effect.

The bill’s author, Rep. Michelle Davis, R-Whiteland, said the bill is about protecting girls athletics from the threat posed by transgender girls, who could have a biological advantage that will cause cisgender girls to lose out of the opportunity to play or compete on an even playing field.
