YORKTOWN, Ind. — In the opening game of Sectional 24 at Yorktown High School, Jay County had one last chance to keep its season alive.
With the team down 36-33 to Hamilton Heights in the final seconds of overtime, Izzy Rodgers — a 49% 3-point shooter this regular season — got a good long-range look from the right wing. Her shot missed slightly left, but the ball careened into Sophia Saxman's hands.
She found a wide-open Renna Schwieterman on the left wing with three seconds remaining. Schwiterman's attempt appeared perfect as Patriots fans held their collective breath.
