NEW CASTLE, Ind. — The IHSAA boys basketball sectionals began Tuesday, and four of the nine East Central teams that competed advanced to the semifinals.
Almost every game was close, and New Castle hosted two thrilling rivalry matchups. There are still several teams that will debut on Wednesday and Friday, but fans were treated to exciting basketball on opening night.

Class 3A
Sectional 24: Jay County 44, New Castle 33
In a highly anticipated rematch between No. 6 New Castle (17-5) and Jay County (20-4), the Patriots emerged victorious this time 44-33.
