Bobby "Slick" Leonard, who coached the Indiana Pacers to three ABA championships and 529 regular-season victories — and later helped keep the team in town by hosting a telethon with his wife — has died at age 88.
He was a star at Terre Haute Gerstmeyer High School and helped Indiana University win a national championship. He played professionally for several years before becoming the Pacers' second coach.
In later years, he became known for his signature "Boom, baby!" radio calls on Pacers 3-pointers.
Leonard, of course, is remembered fondly.
