MUNCIE, Ind. — Thanks to a lengthy opening game of the Delaware County Softball Tournament, Yorktown had to wait a day to punch its ticket to the semifinals. And it also meant the Tigers had to win twice in one day.
Yorktown did just that Wednesday, defeating Wes-Del 7-1 in the county tournament before beating Elwood 19-5 afterwards. The Tigers were leading the Warriors 4-1 on Tuesday when the game was suspended due to darkness after Wapahani and Cowan combined for 52 runs in the first game.
Savannah Baker homered against Wes-Del, while Hannah Avila, Baker and Carlea Pettigrew had two hits apiece.
