MUNCIE, Ind. — There's a new Class 3A No. 1 in this week's AP basketball poll.
New Castle received every first-place vote and is now the top-ranked team in its class after previous No. 1 Evansville Bosse lost last week. The Trojans, who were unranked to start the season, improved to 12-0 with wins over Richmond and Connersville.
The Trojans are led by Luke Bumbalough (21.5 ppg, 5.1 apg) and Mason Gillis (19.3 ppg, 11.8 rpg), who recently picked up an offer from Purdue. They also receive solid contributions from Niah Williamson (11.1 ppg), Blake Burris, Nicholas Grieser and others.
