MUNCIE, Ind. — Delta basketball coach Mark Detweiler said he knew before the season this team could be special. So far, so good.
The Eagles will go into Christmas with a perfect record after beating Central (2-5) 73-56 at Southside Middle School on Saturday night. They have now beaten the Bearcats in back-to-back seasons for the first time since the two teams started meeting in the regular season.
Delta is 8-0 for the first time since the 1997-98 season when it finished 22-2.
"You don't want to get caught up in that, but I knew this was a special group," Detweiler said.
