How this boys basketball season set up local athletic departments financially for years to come

MUNCIE, Ind. — High school basketball fans filed into the New Castle Fieldhouse in early March and packed one of Indiana’s largest and most storied gyms, and if you listened closely, you could hear more than just the raucous fan bases from Delta, Blackford and New Castle.

It sounded like this: Cha-ching.

While fans were treated to some of the finest players and teams in East Central Indiana in recent history, the athletic departments of the schools got some much-needed help with their budgets. Each school in that sectional – which also included Yorktown and Burris – took home $8,900.
