How Jordan Williams switched from linebacker to tight end on Ball State's football team

MUNCIE, Ind. — It started off as a running joke. During practices, Ball State football coaches often ask defensive players if they want to play offense and offensive players if they want to play defense.

For years, Jordan Williams, a redshirt senior, heard these remarks. BSU assistant head coach and tight end coach Patrick Dougherty would often ask Williams, who's played outside linebacker the previous three seasons, "Hey, why don't you play tight end?"

Williams certainly has the look of a prototypical tight end. He's listed at 6-foot-4, 240 pounds, with the strength to block and the athleticism to run routes.
