How Jamal Meeks returned to college basketball, came to Ball State as an assistant

MUNCIE, Ind. — It took 22 years, but Jamal Meeks is back coaching college basketball in Indiana.

Meeks, a member of Indiana's 1992 Final Four team and a 1992 IU grad, was named as Ball State's third assistant coach a day after Michael Lewis' introductory press conference.

It's been a turbulent path for Meeks to get back to coaching collegiately in Indiana, where his wife's family resides. But, sitting in one of a few shaded seats in the stands prior to throwing out the first pitch during the opening game of Ball State's baseball series against Ohio, Meeks is still smiling, talking about how "perfect" this opportunity was.
