How Ball State Athletics is stepping up for those affected by coronavirus concerns

MUNCIE, Ind. — Ball State fans in the area shouldn’t be surprised in the coming days if they see Cardinals coaches and athletics staffers making runs for groceries and more.

As members of the university community, they have looked for ways to serve not just students and staff, but the community at large, amid coronavirus concerns. As BSU athletic director Beth Goetz and those in her department looked for how they could be of service, an idea surfaced that resulted in the announcement Thursday of a Ball State Athletics program called Cardinal Couriers.

Cardinal Couriers will use volunteers who are a part of Ball State Athletics to help “fans whose health can be potentially compromised during the ongoing coronavirus outbreak,” according to a release, by picking up things such as groceries or medical prescriptions for them.
