PORTLAND, Ind. — When Eric Myers was filling out the semistate forms after the Jay County wrestling regional, he noticed a trend. It was a trend that means good things are ahead for the Patriots' wrestling program in the coming years.
Jay County placed second as a team at the regional and will send six wrestlers to Saturday's semistate in Fort Wayne. Filling out the forms, Myers realized that he wrote the number nine for the grade of each of the first four names he filled out.
Six semistate qualifiers, four of whom were freshmen.
"Yeah, that's kind of a good feeling," Myers said.
