For Daleville, why a resilient win over Cowan meant something more: 'We never go away'

MUNCIE, Ind. – When it comes down to it, it’s just another game. But there’s no denying that Friday night meant something more for the Daleville girls basketball team.

It was the first time Daleville played their Delaware County rival Cowan since last year’s sectional championship game — a game in which the Blackhawks hit a last-second shot to earn their first-ever sectional title, and kept the Broncos from winning their first.

The memories of that heart-breaking defeat will always stick with Daleville. And while a dominating second-half performance lifted Daleville to a 57-43 victory over Cowan, coach Ashley Fouch and her players knows that there are bigger goals — and bigger games — lying ahead.
