MUNCIE, Ind. — Football sectionals began this week in Indiana, but only two area teams advanced past the first round.
Monroe Central and Delta were the lone victors in sectional openers that were mostly uncompetitive.

Delta 56, Fort Wayne South Side 18
After an up-and-down first half, Delta shutout the Archers in the second half to bring home the win on its home field.
The Eagles' scoring was balanced in both halves — scoring 28 points in the first half and 27 in the third quarter before the JV players entered — but the team's defense proved to be the difference as they came out of halftime more aggressive and forced several turnovers.
