Did Burris expect to go 10-4-1? 'Absolutely not.' Now, Owls want to compete for sectional

MUNCIE, Ind. – At the beginning of the season, Burris boys soccer coach David Karnes didn’t know how this year was going to turn out.

The Owls had graduated seven starters from an 8-8-1 team a season ago. That included its entire midfield with guys including Bracken Karnes, who had 58 goals in his career, Mason Waldron, Alex Dowdle and Rodrigo Krueger.

Fast forward to the end of the 2020 season, with underclassmen making up half of the Owls' starting lineup, Burris enters the postseason with 10-4-1 record. Following a home loss against Mt. Vernon last Tuesday, when asked if he expected this kind of success this season, David Karnes responded: “Absolutely not.
