Delta star running back Charlie Spegal transfers to New Palestine

MUNCIE, Ind. — The state’s fifth-leading rusher last year will still play in the Hoosier Heritage Conference next season, but he will be in a different uniform than the one he’s worn his entire life.

Charlie Spegal has transferred from Delta High School to New Palestine, where he enrolled earlier this week for the tail end of his sophomore year. Once the move clears, Spegal – who carried the ball 327 times for 2,385 yards and 33 touchdowns in the fall – will join one of the state’s best programs at New Palestine.

The reason for the move is that Spegal’s father, Chris, owns a business called Five Star Commercial Roofing that is relocating from Harford City/Muncie to the Indianapolis area.
