BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — It was a successful two days for East Central Indiana athletes at the IHSAA girls and boys track and field state finals.
Friday, Delta sophomore Nicki Southerland finished first in the 3,200 run at the IHSAA girls track and field state meet. Southerland ran the two-mile race in 10:22.82,edging out Park Tudor's Sophia Kennedy (10:25.02) by just over two seconds. She also finished second in the 1,600 run with a 4:43.99, just behind Huntington North's Addison Wiley, who ran a state record time of 4:38.69.
There were four other East Central Indiana athletes who competed in the state finals.
