MUNCIE, Ind. — It was a productive weekend for East Central Indiana girls sports.
Before Yorktown softball concluded its historic sectional title victory on Saturday, Delta girls tennis and Cowan softball won semistate and sectional championships, respectively.
Delta's win, a 3-2 back-and-forth match against Fairfield at Homestead High School, marked just the fifth semistate crown in program history. With No. 1 singles senior Gwendolyn Clark (2-6, 1-6) and No. 3 singles freshman Brylee Beckley (7-6 [9-7], 5-7, 4-6) both dropping their matches, it took some clutch performances from other Eagles to come out on top.
