MUNCIE, Ind. — A strong one-two finish ended up being the difference in a pair of close finishes at the Delta cross-country sectional Saturday.
In the girls race, Delta freshman Nicki Southerland continued her impressive season, finishing first with a time of 18:17. She was followed by teammate Makayla Robles, who finished second with a 20:39. The two, along with Shannyn Cox (fifth, 21:17), Ashleigh Brelage (16, 21:59) and Olivia Bohanon (29, 24:14), helped Delta fend off Yorktown for the girls title.
Delta (53) has now won three out of the last four sectional titles on the girls side.
