MUNCIE, Ind. — Matt Curts said he was "in total shock" when he learned he would not be returning as New Castle volleyball coach, months after winning the Class 3A state championship.
In an interview with The Star Press, Curts said he went into his yearly evaluation and the principal was there. The school board had told the principal that if Curts' name was put back through, his contract would not be renewed for these reasons:
"The biggest thing was that I had a player that I went to bat for that was not doing well in a class," Curts said.
