Cross country: Delta's Southerland shatters county record; Wapahani boys, Yorktown girls win titles

MUNCIE, Ind. — A pair of dominant performances summed up the 2020 Delaware County Cross Country Meet.

The first came from Delta freshman Nicki Southerland, whose time of 18:47.2 shattered the previous girls' county record of 19:51.82 (set by Yorktown's Alexis Hunt in 2011) by more than a minute.

The next dominant performance came from the Wapahani boys team, which had five of its runners — led by individual winner and freshman Nick Cook (18:03.3) — finish in the top eight for a 34-point victory.
