INDIANAPOLIS – For an event that boasts a history and tradition richer than most in the world, the car that will pace the field on May 28 for the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 seems particularly apt.
For the 28th time, a Chevrolet will pace the field at the 500, and for a record-setting 14th time, it will be a Corvette.
Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett, Indianapolis Motor Speedway president Doug Boles and Chevrolet Racing marketing manager Jeff Chew unveiled the white, 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport on Friday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
Boles, a history buff and self-professed gearhead, was thrilled with the 101st pace car.
