Cardinals Rout Longwood 8-1

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Ball State put an exclamation point on its nine-game spring break trip with an 8-1 win over Longwood on Sunday. The Cardinals also finished the Charleston swing of the trip with a 3-1 record and will play at home Tuesday afternoon.

hit a solo home run and five other Cardinals provided a flurry of doubles as Ball State broke open a close game with all eight runs coming over a four-inning span. Freshman did good work in his first start, pitching 4.0 innings without allowing an earned run.

BSU held a 2-1 lead when it struck for three runs in the top of the 6th to break the game open.
