TUCSON, Arizona - The Ball State baseball season began its 100th season Friday night in the desert, taking on a nationally-ranked opponent. A couple of early runs was the difference for host and No. 22 Arizona in a 3-0 ballgame.
In its first game in 345 days, Ball State got two hits from and solid work from three pitchers. Arizona, ranked in every poll and even as his as 10th in the Collegiate Baseball News preseason ranking, plated two runs in the bottom of the 1st and added an insurance run on a groundout in the 5th.
