MUNCIE, Ind. — As Ball State Athletics announced it would when it released its initial return-to-practice plan — which saw the first athletes come back June 15 — it has been monitoring the situation COVID-19 created and will be updating its policy.
At first, BSU decided not to mandate the testing of all athletes upon arrival for voluntary workouts as it cited “the latest guidance from government agencies, public health officials, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.” At first, BSU athletic director Beth Goetz said there wasn’t a “blanket plan” for testing everyone regardless of if they had symptoms, although she understood there were differing opinions on it across the country.
