MUNCIE, Ind. — What was outlined Wednesday in a NCAA announcement, that its Board of Governors is supporting rule changes on how athletes could receive compensation from their name, image and likeness, didn’t surprise Beth Goetz.
In reality, Ball State’s athletic director said, this is something that’s been working its way through the NCAA’s governance structure. It’s something she’s seen previews of through committees she’s on and through the Mid-American Conference. The concepts surrounding this topic, she thinks, “have been floating, at least have been talked about, for going on a year now.
