Billy Wright helped Richmond win the 1992 state championship. Now he's back as head coach


RICHMOND, Ind. — Richmond High School has hired former Red Devils state champion Billy Wright as its new boys basketball head coach, according to a NEWS release.

Wright has previous coaching experience as a NCAA Div. 1 head coach and assistant coach, as well as head boys basketball coach at Pike High School in Indianapolis. Before switching to this new role, Wright had just been named as an assistant men's basketball coach at Ball State in May 2021.

An RHS alumnus, Wright played point guard and helped lead the Red Devils to the 1992 IHSAA State Championship.
