MUNCIE, Ind. — Ball State Athletics had been planning in one of its budget scenarios for the possibility that COVID-19 concerns could lead to the cancellation of its non-conference football games against Indiana and Michigan.
Thursday, that chance became reality.
The Big Ten Conference announced Thursday its member schools’ fall sports teams, should their seasons occur amidst the pandemic, will only compete against fellow-Big Ten opponents.
That means Ball State football’s Sept. 12 matchup at U-M and Sept. 19 matchup at IU, as well as any other BSU programs scheduled to compete against Big Ten teams this fall that may be scheduled and not yet announced, won’t happen.
