MUNCIE, Ind. — Ball State president Geoffrey Mearns selected Ken Bothof as the university's interim athletic director. The announcement comes two days after Beth Goetz accepted a position as the deputy director and chief operating officer within the athletics department at Iowa.
Bothof comes to Ball State with 35 years of experience within college athletics, including nine years at Northern Kentucky, where he retired in June. Bothof served as the vice president and director of athletics under Mearns, who was previously the president at Northern Kentucky, from 2013-17.
“I had the good fortune of working alongside Ken at Northern Kentucky," Mearns said in a release.
