Ball State suffers worst MAC tournament loss since 1999, 90-70 to Ohio in first round

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Not only was Thursday's game a tough watch for Cardinals fans, the blowout loss also made history.

In the program's worst Mid-American Conference tournament defeat since 1999, No. 4 Ball State (20-12) fell 90-70 to No. 5 Ohio (19-13) in the first round.

BSU captured an early 10-4 advantage before the first media timeout, only to get outplayed in nearly every facet over the final 36 minutes. The game's lone lead change came at the 12:20-minute mark of the first half, after which the Bobcats enjoyed a 38-16 run that secured them a 54-32 advantage entering the locker room.
