Ball State Splits Saturday Doubleheader at Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Ball State baseball team took the opening game of a doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Buffalo, 9-6, but fell in the second contest, 4-3.

The Cardinals (27-18, 12-6 MAC) trailed 5-1 heading into the top of the seventh of game one, only to rally with four runs in the seventh and four more in the eighth to steal a win away from Buffalo (13-26, 6-12). Junior Caleb Stayton produced the key hit in the seventh inning, a two-run double to left field, to cut the deficit to 5-4. In the eighth, junior Alex Maloney put Ball State in front for the first time in the game with a two-run double of his own.
