EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Ball State got away from its identity before halftime of Sunday's 89-77 loss to Evansville, and it cost the Cardinals their five-game winning streak.
Ball State had taken a 17-point lead with less than three minutes until intermission. The Cardinals also hadn’t trailed since the opening basket and held an advantage in nearly every aspect.
“It was almost like we were going to run it up to 20 before half,” coach James Whitford said.
Then the Purple Aces began a comeback, trimming that 17-point deficit to just eight by halftime. They later scored the first six points of the second half on their way to eliminating the Cardinals’ comfortable lead in just 3 minutes, 51 seconds.
