NEW CASTLE, Ind. — Before the season began, Blackford girls basketball coach Mitch Waters sat down with his team with their schedule in front of them. Waters asked the team to circle all the opponents that they thought they could lose to.
New Castle was one of those teams.
Historically, New Castle girls basketball has dominated Blackford. Before Thursday night, each of the previous 13 meetings between the two were won by the Trojans. Many of the final scores looked similar to the 54-20 mark New Castle won by during their last meeting in the sectional two seasons ago.
